About
Atkinson Flats Campground sits along the Chiwawa River in a large glacial carved valley within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground features 11 first-come, first-served campsites at an elevation of 2,500 feet, providing a remote and scenic mountain camping experience. The campground is located approximately 20 miles from Fish Lake, accessed via Chiwawa River Road (Forest Road 6200). Campers should note that the final 5-mile section of road is very rough gravel and dirt, making it unsuitable for low clearance vehicles. Payment is handled on-site using the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan & Pay feature, though cellular service may be limited. Facilities include vault toilets, but campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available. Each campsite includes a fire pit and picnic table. The campground's riverside location offers opportunities for fishing and enjoying the natural beauty of the Glacier Peak Wilderness area. Sites cost $22 per night with an additional $11 fee for extra vehicles.
