Rabbit Valley comprises five campgrounds spread across the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area in western Colorado. Fluffle Campground offers group sites with vehicle capacity up to 60 feet and includes day-use trailer parking and a 4-pen horse corral. High North Campground features a mix of group and standard sites; vehicles over 50 feet should approach from Highway 6 to avoid a tight switchback on the I-70 access road. Koniklos is the dedicated equestrian campground, with individual corrals at each site and additional day-use corrals. Jouflas Campground is tent-focused with a 25-foot vehicle limit, and Knowles Overlook requires high clearance and 4x4 for access through a wash, with a 30-foot maximum. The landscape features scattered juniper trees with views of the Colorado River, La Sal and San Juan Mountains, Colorado National Monument, and Grand Mesa. Vegetation is sparse with less than 10 inches of annual precipitation. Temperature extremes range from below zero to 105°F, with spring and fall offering the most moderate conditions. All camping requires advance reservations through Recreation.gov. Half of sites are available on a six-month rolling window; the remainder open on a four-day window for spontaneous trips. No potable water or electricity is available. Vault toilets are provided, but campers may use EPA-approved portable toilet systems. Pack out all trash including dog waste. Stays are limited to 7 nights per month.

Directions

From I-70, take exit 2 and turn south to the BLM kiosk. Follow signage to specific campgrounds. Vehicles over 50 feet heading to High North should approach from the north via Highway 6 to avoid a tight switchback.
