WHERE...Moffat, Routt, Jackson, Grand, Rio Blanco, Garfield, Eagle, Summit, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Mesa, Pitkin, Lake, Park, Delta, Gunnison, Chaffee, Montrose, Ouray, San Miguel, Dolores, and northern parts of Montezuma and Saguache Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Craig, Steamboat Springs, Walden, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling, Meeker, Rangely, Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Vail, Breckenridge, Central City, Georgetown, Grand Junction, Aspen, Leadville, Fairplay, Delta, Gunnison, Buena Vista, Salida, Montrose, Nucla, Ouray, Telluride, Dove Creek, and Saguache. WHEN...900 AM Tuesday June 30 to 900 AM Wednesday July 01 IMPACTS...Areas downwind of large fires in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah could have periods of moderate to heavy smoke through at least Wednesday morning. HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

About

Highline Lake State Park is a 560-acre park centered around a 174-acre reservoir in Mesa County, Colorado. The campground offers 56 sites spread across areas with a mix of sun and shade, suitable for tent camping, campers, and RVs. Each campsite includes a fire ring with grill and a picnic table. The Camper Services Building provides flush toilets, showers, and laundry facilities year-round. The park features two lakes: Highline Lake allows swimming at a designated beach and permits motorized boating, while the smaller Mack Mesa Lake is restricted to non-motorized watercraft. Both lakes offer fishing opportunities. A playground is available for families, and firewood can be purchased on-site. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance through the Colorado Parks & Wildlife reservation system. Check-in is at 1 p.m. and check-out is at noon. Maximum stay is 14 days within a 28-day period, with a limit of six people, two motorized vehicles, and one camping unit per site.

Directions

From I-70, take the Loma exit (Exit 15) and turn north on Highway 139. Drive 5 miles, turn left on Q Road, then turn right on 11 8/10 Road to reach the Visitor Center and East Entrance.
