About
Nehalem Bay State Park sits on a dramatic 4-mile sand spit separating the Pacific Ocean from Nehalem Bay on Oregon's north coast. The campground is tucked into a forest of shore pines, with beach access just over the dunes. The 265 electrical campsites include water hookups, and eight are ADA accessible. Sixteen yurts provide an alternative to tent or RV camping, with nine designated as pet-friendly and three accessible. The park caters to diverse interests. Equestrians have access to 17 primitive horse camp sites with corrals and beach riding trails. A small airstrip allows fly-in camping at primitive sites near the runway. The 1.8-mile paved bike path through the forest offers bay views, and the day-use areas provide boat ramp access, crabbing docks, and picnic facilities with fire rings. Kayaking, fishing, and clamming are popular activities in the bay. Facilities include flush restrooms with showers (campers only), an RV dump station, playgrounds, and a meeting hall. The park enforces a Snowy Plover Management Area closure from March 15 through September 15 where dogs are prohibited to protect nesting shorebirds.
