About
Nehalem Bay State Park is situated on a scenic 4-mile sand spit in Tillamook County, with Nehalem Bay on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. The campground sits among shore pines and offers over 260 standard sites, each equipped with electric and water hookups. Additional accommodations include 18 yurts, 17 equestrian sites with horse stalls, and a hiker-biker camp area. The park completed major improvements in fall 2025, including upgraded water and electrical systems, new restrooms, and paved entrance roads. The campground provides flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. A forested 1.8-mile bike path offers views of the bay where visitors may spot deer, elk, and various bird species. Beach access is a short walk over the dunes from the campground. The bay side features seasonal boat docks and a ramp for launching kayaks and small boats. Popular activities include beachcombing, crabbing, clamming, fishing, and kayaking. The park also includes a small airstrip with primitive fly-in campsites and equestrian trails exceeding 10 miles. Seasonal beach restrictions apply south of the day-use area from March 15 through September 15 to protect nesting western snowy plovers, limiting beach access to wet sand only in that section. The park is conveniently located near the village of Manzanita and provides easy access to other Oregon Coast attractions.
