About

Fenton Lake State Park encompasses 700 acres in the scenic Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico at an elevation of 7,650 feet. The centerpiece is a 37-acre lake stocked with rainbow trout from fall through spring, along with German brown trout, making it a popular destination for anglers. The park is restricted to electric and paddle craft only, with no gasoline-powered vessels permitted. The campground offers 37 sites ranging from primitive tent sites to RV-capable sites with pull-through options. Five sites in the Fenton Lake Electric loop provide 30-amp electrical hookups and water. Site capacities range from 15 to 60 feet. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. There are no showers. The park has wheelchair-accessible fishing platforms and ADA-accessible campsites. Beyond camping and fishing, visitors can explore the 2-mile Hal Baxter Memorial Cross-Country Ski Trail during winter months. The Rio Cebolla flows through the park. Horseback riding is permitted, and the park offers a group picnic shelter and playground. Ice fishing is available during winter.
