Cheney State Park encompasses 1,900 acres along the shores of Cheney Reservoir, one of Kansas's most popular water recreation destinations. The park offers diverse camping options across multiple campground areas on both the East and West shores, including Smarsh Creek, North Loop, South Loop, Heimerman Point, Marina, Lakeview, Wichita Point, and M&M Point. Sites range from primitive tent camping to full-hookup RV sites with 30 or 50 amp electric service and water. The park caters to all camping styles, from tent campers seeking primitive shoreline sites to large RV rigs. Smarsh Creek campground can accommodate rigs up to 70 feet with its large back-in and pull-through sites. All campgrounds feature fire rings and picnic tables at each site, with nine modern showerhouses distributed throughout the park providing flush toilets and free showers. Four dump stations are available for RV waste disposal. Beyond camping, Cheney State Park offers four designated swimming beaches, six boat ramps with 22 launching lanes, two full-service marinas, fish cleaning stations, and nature trails including Spring Creek (0.5 mile) and Giefer Creek (0.25 mile). The park also has 12 modern cabins for those seeking more comfortable accommodations, with several ADA-accessible options available.

From Wichita, take US-54 west approximately 20 miles to the Cheney exit. Turn north on N 21st Street and follow signs to the park entrance at 16000 Northeast 50 Street, Cheney, KS 67025.
