Henrys Lake State Park
The campground is currently closed for the season. It opens on the Thursday before Memorial Day (around May 21) and operates through October 31, weather permitting. The dump station remains closed for the 2025/2026 season due to drain field problems; full hookup sites provide the only on-site sewage disposal.
About
Henrys Lake State Park occupies a scenic stretch of shoreline on the 6,000-acre lake that bears its name, just 15 miles from Yellowstone National Park's west entrance. The campground is surrounded on three sides by the Continental Divide, providing dramatic mountain scenery and cool high-elevation summer temperatures. The lake itself is renowned as one of Idaho's top trout fisheries, drawing anglers seeking cutthroat, brook, and hybrid cut-bow trout. The park offers 96 single-family campsites along the lakeshore, including 75 sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups and 8 full-hookup sites with 50-amp service. Ten hike-and-bike sites accommodate non-motorized travelers. Three heated cabins provide an alternative to tent or RV camping, with one cabin designated ADA-accessible. Facilities include indoor restrooms with flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a boat ramp, fish cleaning stations, and an amphitheater. The campground operates seasonally from the Thursday before Memorial Day through October 31, weather permitting. Winter access is available with limited dry RV sites and heated cabins for those seeking off-season adventures.
Directions
From West Yellowstone, Montana, drive west on US-20 for approximately 15 miles. The park entrance is on the south side of the highway, well-signed.
