About

Quaddick Picnic Shelter is a day-use pavilion situated within Quaddick State Park, a recreation area centered on the 408-acre Quaddick Lake in Thompson, Connecticut. The site was once Thompson's town farm and served as a fishing area for the Nipmuck Indians before becoming a state park in 1951. The shelter accommodates up to 50 people and is available for reservation through Reserve America. The park offers swimming at sandy beaches, boating with a boat launch, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. Grills and picnic tables are available at the shelter. Note that this is strictly a day-use facility; overnight camping is not permitted at the picnic shelter. The park does have a separate youth group camping area, but it is currently closed until further notice. Alcohol is permanently prohibited, and amplified music, bounce houses, and similar play equipment are not allowed. Pets are permitted on leash (7 feet max) in picnic areas but not in swimming areas. Out-of-state vehicles require a day pass ($10 weekdays, $15 weekends/holidays) from April through October.
