Mashamoquet Brook State Park in Pomfret, Connecticut encompasses over 900 acres of forests, streams, and recreational opportunities in the state's Quiet Corner region. The campground is divided into two distinct areas with different characters and amenities. Wolf Den Campground offers 35 open sites with modern facilities including bathhouses with hot showers, flush toilets, potable water, and paved site pads. Site 20 uniquely offers water and electric hookups for an additional fee. Mashamoquet Brook Campground provides a more rustic experience with 18 wooded sites and composting toilets but no running water or showers. The park is named for the historic Wolf Den, a cave where Israel Putnam reportedly killed Connecticut's last wolf in 1742. Hiking trails wind through the property connecting to notable features including Indian Chair and the scenic Mashamoquet Brook. The park offers freshwater fishing, a beach and swimming area, picnic facilities, and access to historic sites and a museum. Reservations are required and must be made at least 48 hours in advance through Reserve America. Walk-ins are not accepted. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive days with a 5-day gap required between stays. No pets are allowed at either campground.

From Route 44 in Pomfret: Wolf Den Campground is located at 147 Wolf Den Drive. Mashamoquet Brook Campground entrance is at 320 Mashamoquet Road (Route 44). The main park entrance and office are at 276 Mashamoquet Road, Pomfret, CT 06259.
