About

Wells State Park, established in 1968, is a 1,400-acre public recreation area located off Route 49 in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The campground features 60 tent and RV sites plus 4 yurts situated within a mature oak-hickory forest with rocky outcrops and rich wetlands. Sites wind up and down wooded hills, with some located directly on Walker Pond. Walker Pond provides a tranquil setting for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming at the campers-only beach. The park offers over 12 miles of trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing in winter. During summer months, Wells State Park hosts an interpretive program with guided walks, hikes, recreational activities, and evening campfire programs. The campground is conveniently located just five miles from Old Sturbridge Village, a nationally-renowned living history museum. Reservations can be made through ReserveAmerica, with camping available between Memorial Day and Columbus Day.

Directions

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90), take Exit 9 for Sturbridge. Follow Route 20 East to Route 49 North. The park entrance is the third left off Route 49.
