About
Westville Lake Recreation Area is a day-use facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, located on the Quinebaug River in Southbridge and Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The recreation area offers two large group picnic shelters with electricity hookups that can be reserved through Recreation.gov, along with a picnic cove featuring numerous tables and charcoal grills shaded by trees. The park includes flush toilets and drinking water during the operating season. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a network of hiking trails suitable for all ages, including a 1.8-mile loop trail, as well as a canoe and kayak launch into the slow-current river. Fishing opportunities are available throughout the lake and river. A large open recreation field provides space for various activities. In winter months, visitors can use the ice skating pond and sledding hills when conditions permit. The facility operates as a day-use area only with no overnight camping or swimming permitted. Pets are welcome on a 6-foot leash, and the park follows a carry-in, carry-out trash policy. Old Sturbridge Village, a living history museum, is located nearby for additional cultural exploration.
