About

Emigrant Landing is the largest day use recreation area on Pyramid Lake, located just 90 minutes from Los Angeles in the Angeles National Forest. The facility sits on the northern end of Pyramid Lake, a 1,300-acre reservoir with 21 miles of shoreline, offering spectacular views of the surrounding sweeping hills above the Santa Clarita Valley. Visitors enjoy a wide range of water-based activities including boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and fishing for striped bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, crappie, and bluegill. A large sandy swim beach attracts hours of play for families, while large trees and shelters provide cooling shade throughout the day. The facility includes an eight-lane boat launching ramp, a marina with boat rentals, and multiple picnic areas. This is a day use only area operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Visitors must enter between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., with no entry allowed after 9 a.m. Water in Pyramid Lake originates from Plumas National Forest in northern California and travels through an aqueduct down through the Tehachapi Mountains to its southern California resting point at Pyramid Lake. The nearby Vista Del Lago Visitor Center offers panoramic views and exhibits about California's geology and water supply systems.
