About

Los Alamos Campground is located in Angeles National Forest at 2,900 feet elevation, approximately 90 minutes from Los Angeles and just 2.5 miles from Pyramid Lake. The concessionaire-operated campground features 90 single family sites and 3 group sites that accommodate up to 40 people each. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, with some premium sites featuring shade ramadas. Most parking aprons are sandy gravel with some paved options. The campground is the closest to Pyramid Lake, offering priority access for campers who arrive at the marina by 6:15 a.m. Pyramid Lake spans 1,300 acres with 21 miles of shoreline and provides opportunities for swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and fishing for striped bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, crappie, and bluegill. The lake receives water via aqueduct from northern California's Plumas National Forest. Campsites are mostly open with limited shade, though Loop 3 offers some tree coverage. The area supports diverse wildlife including birds, squirrels, bobcats, mountain lions, bears, and Nelson bighorn sheep. Nearby attractions include the Vista Del Lago Visitor Center with sweeping lake views and the Hungry Valley Off-Road State Vehicular Recreation Area. The campground also features volleyball courts for recreation.
