About
Los Alamos Campground is located 90 minutes from Los Angeles in Angeles National Forest, offering convenient access to the natural beauty of Pyramid Lake at the base of the mountains. The campground features 90 single family sites and 3 group campsites positioned in the hills above the Santa Clarita Valley, set back from the 1,300-acre Pyramid Lake with its 21 miles of shoreline. The campsites are mostly open with some trees offering limited shade to campers in Loop 3. Most parking aprons are sandy gravel, with some paved options. Each site includes picnic tables and grills. Facilities include flush toilets, fresh drinking water, volleyball courts, a dump station, and a camp general store. Bears are active in the area, and all food must be kept in approved containers. Pyramid Lake is a major draw for visitors, offering excellent fishing for striped bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, crappie, and bluegill. Boating and jet skiing are popular water activities. The area also provides opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, motorcycle riding, and wildlife viewing. A diverse variety of animal life exists in Angeles National Forest, including commonly seen birds and squirrels, as well as bobcat, mountain lion, bear, and Nelson bighorn sheep. The Vista Del Lago Visitor Center nearby offers sweeping lake views and information about California's water systems. Hungry Valley Off-Road State Vehicular Recreation Area is just minutes away.
