Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Eastern San Gabriel Mountains, Interstate 5 Corridor, and Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor. * WHEN...Until 7 PM PDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels will range from 4500 to 5000 feet. There will be a lull this morning and then showers will pick up in the afternoon. No accumulating snow is expected on the Grapevine over Interstate 5 but there could be a mix of rain and snow there Monday morning.

About

Oak Flat Campground is located at 2,800 feet elevation on the northwest side of Angeles National Forest, offering easy access just off Interstate 5 near Castaic. The campground features 20 first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets are available, but there is no piped water, so visitors must bring adequate water for all needs including cooking, cleaning, drinking, and extinguishing campfires. The campground accommodates RVs up to 22 feet in length, though no hookups are available. Oak Flat serves as a convenient base for exploring the area, with a short trail behind the fire station leading to Whitaker Peak providing scenic views. The cool waters of Piru Creek at Frenchman's Flat are just a short drive away. An Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required, and dogs must be kept on leash. The campground operates year-round and is popular for weekend family camping trips.

Directions

From Castaic, drive 6 miles north on Interstate 5. Turn left on Templin Highway and go under the freeway. Drive northwest for 3 miles to campground.
