About
Oak Flat Campground is a 20-site developed campground located at 2,800 feet elevation in the northwest corner of Angeles National Forest, just minutes from the I-5 corridor near Castaic. The campground provides a convenient escape from Los Angeles for weekend camping trips with picnic tables, campfire rings, and vault toilets at each site. However, there is no potable water available, so campers must bring all water needed for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and extinguishing campfires. The campground offers a short hiking trail behind the nearby fire station that leads to Whitaker Peak, and Piru Creek at Frenchmens Flat is a short drive away. Sites accommodate RVs up to 22 feet in length but offer no hookups, dump station, or showers. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations available. Dogs are permitted but must remain on leash at all times.
Directions
From Castaic, drive 6 miles north on Interstate 5. Turn left on Templin Highway and go under the freeway. Drive northwest for 3 miles to the campground.
