About

Kings Campground is a small, primitive campground tucked into the pinyon pine and chaparral terrain of the Mt. Pinos Ranger District in Los Padres National Forest. Situated at approximately 4,240 feet elevation, the campground provides a quieter alternative to the busier OHV staging areas nearby while remaining easily accessible from Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area. The campground features six campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water on site, so campers must bring their own water supply. Trash service is not provided; pack out what you pack in. The area is popular with off-highway vehicle riders, and all OHVs must display proper registration and be equipped with a spark arrestor. Camping is first-come, first-served at $5 per night. Quiet hours are observed from 10pm to 6am, and the maximum stay is 14 days. The campground is subject to seasonal closure from November 1 through April 30 due to Multiple Vehicle Use Management restrictions.

Directions

From Hungry Valley SVRA, take Gold Hill Road (FS 8N01) approximately 5 miles, turn left on Kings Campground Road (FS 8N01A). The campground is approximately 1 mile east.
