About

Point Pinole Regional Shoreline is a 2,432-acre parkland on the shores of San Pablo Bay near Richmond, California. The park features a single primitive group campsite designed for 11-35 campers, situated approximately 1.5 miles from parking and 200-300 yards from the scenic fishing pier. Trails wind through breezy meadows with seasonal wildflowers, aromatic eucalyptus groves, and along bluffs and beaches offering views of Mt. Tamalpais, the Marin shoreline, and bay shipping traffic. The group campsite includes four 6-foot picnic tables, one serving table, a double BBQ, a fire circle with three benches, a shade structure, a rinsing shower, a drinking fountain with spigot, two chemical toilets, and a 5x8-foot storage container with combination lock. The site is primitive with no access to flush toilets or private showers. Reservations must be made at least 3 business days in advance by calling East Bay Regional Park District reservations. The park features over 12 miles of trails including sections of the San Francisco Bay Trail, and is home to over 100 bird species. Wildlife includes deer, hawks, owls, Monarch butterflies, shorebirds, and salt marsh inhabitants. The eucalyptus woodlands, originally planted as a buffer zone for historic explosives manufacturing, now provide habitat and shelter.
