About

Boca Rest Campground occupies the northeastern shore of Boca Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest, roughly 20 minutes from Truckee via the Hirschdale exit off I-80. The 39 standard nonelectric sites are spread across open, high-desert terrain characterized by sagebrush and scattered pines. Most sites receive full sun with minimal shade but benefit from generous spacing. Some waterfront sites are available. Boca Reservoir covers over 900 acres and draws visitors for motorized boating, water skiing, windsurfing, swimming, and fishing. A boat ramp is located on the west shore, with an unimproved launch area south of the campground. The nearby Little Truckee River offers some of Northern California's best catch-and-release fly-fishing. The surrounding area provides hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV trail access. The Boca Townsite Interpretive Trail highlights the area's history from railroad construction camp to brewery town. Stampede Reservoir lies 9 miles north with additional water recreation. Lake Tahoe is 30 minutes away. Truckee provides full services including restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, and lodging.

Directions

From I-80, take the Hirschdale exit. Drive north on Hirschdale Road approximately 3 miles to the campground on the northeast shore of Boca Reservoir.
