About
Boca Campground occupies a scenic peninsula along the western shore of Boca Reservoir at approximately 5,700 feet elevation in the Tahoe National Forest. Stands of mature Jeffrey pine and fir provide partial shade across the 23 campsites, which overlook the reservoir. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with BBQ grate, and bear locker. Sites 19-22 require a short walk-in, making them well-suited for tent camping. Vault toilets are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water. The reservoir is popular for boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing, with a boat ramp located less than a mile from camp. The Little Truckee River nearby offers some of Northern California's best catch-and-release fly-fishing. The surrounding area features hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV trails, though non-street legal OHVs must be trailered from the campground to trailheads. The Boca Townsite Interpretive Trail between Boca Dam and the railroad tracks traces the history of the former town of Boca, from its origins as a Central Pacific Railroad construction camp through its days as the Boca Mill and Ice Company and later the Boca Brewery. Truckee is 15 minutes away with full services, and Lake Tahoe is 25 minutes south.
