About
Located next to Odell Lake in the Deschutes National Forest, Princess Creek Campground offers a peaceful retreat amid towering Douglas fir, white fir, hemlock and spruce trees with huckleberry in the underbrush. The campground provides direct access to Odell Lake, known for excellent fishing, boating, and windsurfing opportunities. Both motorized and non-motorized boats are permitted, and the campground includes a boat ramp. Boats are the most effective way to fish this deep lake, though afternoon winds can make conditions rough. Diamond Peak, standing at 8,744 feet, serves as a dramatic backdrop to the lake and marks the nearby Diamond Peak Wilderness. The area offers opportunities for hiking and exploring wilderness trails throughout the Deschutes National Forest. Wildlife in the area includes deer, elk, pine martens, ravens, native fish, and occasional black bears. The campground is located along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway and provides access to the diverse recreation opportunities of the Central Oregon Cascades. A nearby resort on Odell Lake offers lodging, a general store with camping supplies, coffee, snacks and fishing licenses. Campers should note that no potable water is available at the campground, so adequate water supply must be brought in.
