Pound River Campground

Pound River Campground occupies a scenic peninsula on the John W. Flannagan Reservoir, a 1,145-acre impoundment created by the US Army Corps of Engineers dam completed in 1964. Located in Dickenson County in Virginia's Cumberland Mountains, the campground provides direct reservoir access for anglers pursuing bass, walleye, catfish, and crappie. The campground offers 27 sites: 22 RV sites with 50-amp electric hookups and 5 tent-only nonelectric sites. Site parking spurs range from 18 to 40 feet, with some sites accommodating equipment up to 40 feet. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and lantern pole. Several sites sit directly on the waterfront. Facilities include bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, potable water, trash collection, and a dump station. Recreation amenities include a boat ramp with trailer parking, picnic shelters with grills and electrical hookups, a playground, and horseshoe pits. A riding arena hosts local horse shows and serves as a trailhead for organized trail rides between May and September. Breaks Interstate Park is nearby for additional activities including lodging, dining, rafting, and rock climbing.

From Clintwood Main Street, turn onto Brush Creek Road (State Route 631) for 2.2 miles. Turn right onto State Route 754 for 1.1 miles. Turn right onto Pound River Campground Road.
