About

Lower Twin Campground is located at John W. Flannagan Dam & Reservoir, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility in the rolling green Cumberland Mountains of southwest Virginia. The dam, completed in 1964 for flood control of the Cranesnest and Pound Rivers, created a 1,145-acre lake with nearly 40 miles of shoreline maintained at approximately 1,400 feet elevation. The campground features 32 sites: 24 RV electric sites and 8 tent-only electric sites. All sites have electric hookups, with RV sites offering 50-amp service. Facilities include bath houses with hot-water showers, a complimentary dumpster near the entrance, playgrounds, and picnic shelters with grills and horseshoe pits. A boat launch ramp provides direct lake access. Flannagan Reservoir is known as a fisherman's paradise, with secluded coves of deep, clean water stocked with bass, walleye, and trout. Additional activities include boating, canoeing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Breaks Interstate Park is nearby, offering lodging, dining, a museum, rafting, and rock climbing.
