About
Lower Twin Campground is located on John W. Flannagan Reservoir in the rolling Cumberland Mountains of southwest Virginia. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this campground offers a peaceful lakeside setting for summer recreation. The campground features RV sites and tent sites, all with electric hookups. Facilities include bath houses with flush toilets and showers, playgrounds, boat launch ramps, and picnic shelters equipped with grills and horseshoe pits. The 1,145-acre reservoir, created by the Flannagan Dam completed in 1964, offers nearly 40 miles of scenic shoreline maintained at 1,400 feet above sea level. Flannagan Reservoir is renowned for its fishing, with secluded coves of deep, clean water well-stocked with bass, walleye, and trout. Boating, canoeing, hiking, and biking are popular activities. Nearby Breaks Interstate Park offers additional outdoor recreation opportunities. Reservations are made through Recreation.gov, and campers are limited to 14 consecutive days per 30-day period.
