About

Potato Hills South Campground is located on the eastern shoreline of Sardis Lake in beautiful southeast Oklahoma, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The campground offers 18 back-in non-electric campsites and two group day shelters with electric service, providing a more primitive camping experience compared to its nearby sibling, Potato Hills Central. Sardis Lake is a reservoir fed by Jackfork Creek, a tributary of the Kiamichi River, set in the scenic foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. The lake is renowned for its fishing, consistently producing some of Oklahoma's largest bass. Anglers can expect to catch largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and walleye. The campground provides convenient access to boat ramps for launching watercraft. Beyond water activities, the area offers hiking trails and is surrounded by over 8,000 acres of undeveloped public hunting and wildlife propagation areas. The campground includes a picnic area and playground ideal for family gatherings. Nature trails are accessible near the campsite, allowing visitors to explore the natural beauty of the region.
