About

Poplar Springs Recreation Area is a 24-acre day-use facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Hartwell Lake, a man-made reservoir on the Georgia-South Carolina border along the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers. The site features moderate slopes with dense stands of pines and mixed hardwoods providing ample shade. Facilities include a popular two-lane boat ramp with a courtesy dock, making it one of the busiest launch points in this section of Hartwell Lake. The day-use area offers 20 picnic sites and a group picnic shelter that can be reserved and includes water and electric service. Two comfort stations serve visitors. The boat ramp operates year-round with a $7 per vehicle launch fee, while the day-use area is open from May 1 through early September. Pets are welcome but must remain on a leash of 6 feet or less. Note that overnight camping is not permitted at this facility.
