About

Fell Camp is a 15-acre maintained primitive camp located in the northern section of the Long Cane Ranger District within Sumter National Forest. While primarily used by hunters during hunting season and equestrians accessing the Long Cane Horse Trail, the camp also supports birding, hiking, and general nature enjoyment. The campground features loop and linear camping sites with a centrally-located water source and vault toilets. Additional amenities include a picnic shelter, information board, garbage collection, and generous grass and gravel parking suitable for horse trailers. The camp serves as the primary trailhead for the 24-mile Long Cane Horse Trail, which offers diverse terrain appealing to both novice and advanced riders. Fell Camp operates on a seasonal basis primarily aligned with hunting season, from mid-September through early January. Organized groups of 12 or more riders require a specialized permit for overnight camping.
