About

Manor Area Campground is the smaller of two camping areas within Cunningham Falls State Park, offering 31 campsites in a more secluded setting. The campground includes 21 basic sites and 10 sites with electric hookups that can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 30 feet long. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and grill. The centrally located bathhouse provides hot showers and flush toilets during the main camping season. The Manor Area is situated off Route 15, three miles south of Thurmont, and offers a more primitive camping experience compared to the park's larger William Houck Area. The location provides easy access to the historic Catoctin Iron Furnace ruins, the Scales and Tales Aviary, and numerous hiking trails. Big Hunting Creek, one of Maryland's premier trout streams, flows through the park and offers excellent fishing opportunities. The campground operates on a reservation system during the main season and is popular among campers seeking a quieter experience. Firewood is available for purchase, and the campground welcomes pets. The Manor Area's rock formations and proximity to natural attractions make it an ideal base for exploring Cunningham Falls State Park's diverse ecosystems and recreational opportunities.
