About
Nestled in the woods where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Patuxent River, Hog Point Campgrounds offers a secluded primitive camping experience on an active military installation. The campground features 4 tent-only sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring, just steps from the shoreline for fishing and crabbing.
Access is restricted to Active Duty military, Reservists, Retired Military, Unremarried Widows, Veterans, and Department of Defense employees with valid eligibility ID cards. The campground is part of NAS Patuxent River's extensive MWR offerings, which include a marina, golf course, outdoor pool, and over 12 miles of shoreline for water activities.
The primitive sites have no electric or water hookups, and campers should come prepared for a basic outdoor experience. Portable toilets are available. The base is located approximately 55 miles south of Washington D.C., making it accessible for weekend getaways while maintaining a peaceful, natural setting.
