About
Calvert Cliffs Youth Campground offers a rustic camping experience for organized youth groups within Calvert Cliffs State Park along Maryland's Chesapeake Bay coast. The campground features five primitive sites designed to accommodate scout troops, schools, and youth clubs seeking an authentic outdoor experience. Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring and a 12-foot picnic table, providing basic amenities for group camping activities. The campground is situated within the park's 1,460-acre protected landscape, which includes 13 miles of hiking trails, tidal and freshwater marshlands, and access to the famous Calvert Cliffs. These ancient cliffs, formed over 15 million years ago, contain more than 600 species of fossils and are accessible via a two-mile hike to the beach. The youth camping area has been developed with support from the Friends of Calvert Cliffs State Park, including the establishment of dedicated hiking trails within the 88-acre youth group area. Reservations are required for all youth group campsites and must be made by registered youth group pass holders. The primitive nature of the campground makes it ideal for groups focused on outdoor skills, environmental education, and disconnecting from modern conveniences while experiencing Maryland's coastal ecosystems.
