Janes Island State Park is situated on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay and Tangier Sound. The park spans over 2,900 acres and offers more than 30 miles of marked water trails amidst marshlands and scenic coastal environments. This destination is well-loved by both nature enthusiasts and water sports adventurers, with opportunities for boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and swimming, and several boat-accessible beaches. The campground features 104 campsites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs, in addition to nine cabins and a lodge. Sites are spread out, with some offering beautiful views of the water. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. Visitors also have access to drinking water, a camp store, picnic areas, marina, boat launch, playgrounds, and a visitor center. The park is known for its clean facilities, including modern bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets. Recreation at Janes Island State Park extends beyond water-based activities. Guests can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, nature watching, hunting (in designated areas), and winter sports like cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The park staff receive positive reviews for being helpful, and the grounds are well-maintained and spacious. Various camping accommodations are available, from full-service cabins equipped with beds, kitchens, and bathrooms, to rustic camper cabins and primitive backcountry sites. Janes Island State Park is located near Crisfield, Maryland, on the shores of Tangier Sound next to the Chesapeake Bay. From Crisfield, follow signs for Janes Island State Park and proceed to 26280 Alfred J. Lawson Dr. The park entrance is well-marked and accessible by local roads.
