Pleasant Valley Pit Campground

Open

Open year-round on a first-come-first-served basis. No reservations accepted. Seasonal fire restrictions may prohibit campfires during high fire danger periods.

About

Pleasant Valley Pit Campground sits in a former gravel quarry near the Pleasant Valley Reservoir, about 8.5 miles north of Bishop in Inyo County. The campground offers 75 RV and tent sites on a first-come-first-served basis for $5 per night. Each site includes a fire pit, picnic table, and lantern holder. The area is popular with rock climbers due to its proximity to the Happy and Sad Boulders. This is primitive camping with no potable water, hookups, dump station, or showers. Campers should bring all water supplies and plan to access services in Bishop, located 12 miles to the south. The maximum recommended RV length is 30 feet. Vault toilets are available on site. Campfires are permitted in established fire rings without a California Campfire Permit, though seasonal fire restrictions may apply during high fire danger periods. The stay limit is 14 consecutive days at this campground, with a maximum of 28 days per calendar year across all Bishop Field Office campgrounds without written permission from the Field Office Manager.
