In Nevada, Esmeralda and Central Nye County and Lincoln County. * WHEN...From 11 AM Wednesday to 8 PM PDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Extreme early-season heat coupled with high tourism rates will make this heat very dangerous, particularly for those not acclimated to the heat and/or traveling from cooler climates. Numerous daily and monthly heat records are in jeopardy through at least Sunday.
About
Pleasant Valley Campground sits along the scenic Owens River, adjacent to Pleasant Valley Reservoir, approximately 6 miles northwest of Bishop via U.S. Highway 395 and Pleasant Valley Road. This Inyo County-operated campground offers 75 camping spaces that can accommodate larger RVs, making it a popular choice for both tent campers and RV travelers exploring the Eastern Sierra. The campground provides essential amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings at each site, along with potable water. Year-round fishing is available in the Owens River and Pleasant Valley Reservoir, with a valid California fishing license required. Each site accommodates up to 6 people, and Site 75 is a designated group site that can host up to 36 people and 10 vehicles. Pleasant Valley operates year-round and features a mixed reservation system. From November through May, sites are available for advance reservation through ReserveAmerica, while June through October operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground charges $14 per vehicle per night with an additional $5 per night for extra vehicles, and the group site is $108 per night. Automated pay stations accept both credit cards and cash. The campground does not offer hookups or shower facilities.

From Bishop, drive 6 miles northwest on U.S. Highway 395. Turn north on Pleasant Valley Road and continue 1 mile to the campground entrance.
