About

Pleasant Valley Pit Campground is a primitive Bureau of Land Management campground situated in the high desert of the Owens Valley, approximately 8.5 miles north of Bishop, California. The campground provides 75 sites suitable for both tents and RVs up to 30 feet in length. All sites are first-come-first-served with no reservations accepted, making it a reliable option for spontaneous trips to the Eastern Sierra. Each campsite is equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and lantern holder. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, hookups, or dump station. Campers should arrive fully self-sufficient with their own water supply. The closest amenities including fuel, groceries, and water are located 12 miles south in Bishop. The area offers access to numerous recreational opportunities including rock climbing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and water sports at the nearby Pleasant Valley Reservoir. A 14-day consecutive stay limit applies, with a maximum of 28 days per calendar year across all Bishop Field Office campgrounds.
