About
Horton Creek Campground sits at nearly 5,000 feet elevation in the Round Valley area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Bishop Field Office. The campground offers 49 sites along a single gravel road with panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada and surrounding valley. Four sites are pull-through spaces suitable for trailers, with a maximum recommended RV length of 30 feet.
All sites are equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and lantern holder. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. Potable water is available during the operating season, and a dump station is on-site for $10. Payment can be made via cash, check, or the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay mobile app at each site.
Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days at any one campground, not to exceed 28 days per calendar year for all Bishop Field Office campgrounds without written permission from the Field Office Manager. A California Campfire Permit is not required for fires within established fire rings, though seasonal fire restrictions may prohibit campfires during periods of high fire danger. The campground is located 12 miles north of Bishop, accessible via US Highway 395, Sawmill Road, and South Round Valley Road.
Directions
Travel 8.5 miles north on US Highway 395 from Bishop to Sawmill Road and turn left, take an immediate right onto South Round Valley Road and travel 3 miles. Campground is on the left.
