Pipestem Resort State Park Campground occupies a scenic plateau along the eastern rim of the Bluestone River Gorge, where the 4,050-acre park straddles the Summers and Mercer county line. The campground accommodates everything from small pop-up tents to large RVs across its 82 sites: 31 with full hookups (electric, water, sewer), 19 with electric only, and the remainder primitive. Heated bathhouses provide year-round comfort, while coin-operated laundry facilities and a well-stocked camp store handle the essentials. The park earned its name from the pipestem bush (Spiraea alba), whose hollow stems Native Americans once fashioned into pipe stems. Today the property serves as a full-service resort destination, featuring McKeever Lodge perched on the canyon rim, an aerial tramway descending 3,600 feet to Mountain Creek Lodge at the gorge floor, championship golf, horseback riding, zip line tours, and over 20 miles of trails. The Bluestone and New Rivers provide fishing and paddling opportunities nearby. Quiet hours run 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., check-in is 1 p.m., and checkout is noon. A maximum stay of 14 consecutive nights applies. Weekend reservations require a two-night minimum (Friday-Saturday), while weeknight stays have a one-night minimum. Directions

From I-64, take Exit 139 south onto Route 20. Follow Route 20 approximately 14 miles south through Hinton to Pipestem. The park entrance is on Route 20.
