About

Double C Horse and Rider Campground is a dedicated equestrian camping area within Camp Creek State Park and Forest in Mercer County, West Virginia. Situated at approximately 2,023 feet elevation, this primitive campground caters specifically to visitors traveling with horses for trail riding. The campground offers around 12 sites with gravel pads, each capable of accommodating two to four horses. Reservations cover two horses per site, with additional horses requiring an extra nightly fee. Sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with grills. As a primitive campground, Double C provides portable toilets and trash collection but does not offer potable water or electricity at individual sites. Campers should bring their own water supply. The nearby Mash Fork Campground within Camp Creek State Park has a heated bathhouse with showers available year-round. The campground provides access to 35 miles of trails through nearly 6,000 acres of forest, seven miles of seasonally stocked trout streams, and scenic waterfalls. Reservations can be made online through the West Virginia State Parks booking system, by calling the park directly, or through the WV Call Center.
