About

Blue Jay Campground provides a rustic camping experience within Camp Creek State Park and Forest in southern West Virginia. The 12 primitive tent sites are arranged along a creek with rapidly running water, offering direct access to fishing and hiking trails. Each site is equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, trash receptacle, and lantern pole. Vault toilets serve the campground, while full restroom facilities with running water and showers are located at Mash Fork Campground less than a mile away. Camp Creek State Park and Forest spans nearly 6,000 acres of Appalachian hardwood forest with 35 miles of trails and seven miles of seasonally stocked trout streams. The park provides opportunities for hiking, fishing, wildlife observation, and exploring the region's natural beauty. Trail access from Blue Jay Campground leads to waterfalls and creek-side paths throughout the park. The campground operates year-round, weather permitting, though the campground office closes December through February. Reservations require a minimum two-night stay on weekends during peak season (Thursday before Memorial Day through Labor Day), with a 14-night maximum stay limit. Reservations can be made online through the WV State Parks booking system or by calling the park directly.
