About

Pipes Canyon Trail Camp is a primitive backcountry camping area situated in San Bernardino National Forest, approximately 3.9 miles northwest of Pioneertown in San Bernardino County. The trail camp provides access to Pipes Canyon and surrounding desert terrain, including trails that connect to the Wildlands Conservancy's Pioneertown Mountains Preserve. This is a remote camping area in a scenic desert canyon setting with volcanic mesas and the Sawtooth Mountains nearby. The region experienced the Lake Fire several years ago, which destroyed the former developed Pipes Campground in the area. As a trail camp, this site offers a primitive camping experience for hikers and backpackers exploring the trails in Pipes Canyon and the surrounding backcountry. Campers should be prepared for a rustic experience with minimal to no facilities, consistent with dispersed camping regulations in the San Bernardino National Forest.
