About
Juniper Springs Group Camp is a primitive backcountry group facility in the San Bernardino National Forest, situated at 7,739 feet elevation in a pinyon pine and juniper woodland. The campground sits about 10 miles from Big Bear Lake in a scenic mountain setting with a small pond on-site. Ponderosa pines dot the landscape, and meadows surround the area. The single group site accommodates up to 40 people and 8 vehicles (maximum 20-foot vehicle length). Amenities include vault toilets, four picnic tables, a group fire ring, and a double pedestal grill. This is a pack-it-out campground with no potable water or trash collection. Campers must bring all water needed for drinking and cooking. Access requires a high-clearance vehicle via Forest Routes 2N01 and 2N64Y; the campground is not recommended for trailers or low-clearance vehicles. Recreation options include hiking, mountain biking, and access to the Pacific Crest Trail. The Cactus Flats OHV staging area is nearby with 68 miles of trails. Big Bear Lake offers fishing and boating 11 miles away, where supplies and restaurants are available.
