About
Pioneer Point Campground is situated at 2,625 feet elevation on the southeast shore of Lake Isabella, one of California's largest reservoirs at 11,000 acres. The campground marks the division between the Upper and Lower Kern Rivers in Sequoia National Forest's Kern River Ranger District. The 77 single-family campsites accommodate RVs up to 30 feet in length and feature natural surface pads connected by paved roads. Each site comes equipped with a fire ring with grill and picnic table. Four concrete block flush restrooms serve campers, and the campground includes a fish cleaning station and playground. Lake Isabella offers swimming, water skiing, windsurfing, and fishing for trout, black and white crappie, bluegill, catfish, and largemouth bass. The campground provides a base for day trips to the Trail of a Hundred Giants and numerous sequoia groves in the Giant Sequoia National Monument.
Directions
From Bakersfield, take Highway 178 east to the town of Lake Isabella. From Lake Isabella, take Highway 155 north about 1.5 miles to Pioneer Point Campground on the west side of the highway.
