The BLM will be completing an overhaul of the sewage lift station at Pink House Recreation Site, which will require a **temporary closure of the sewer dump station and the flush toilets, starting March 16, 2026, and lasting several months**. These amenities are expected to be available and fully functioning before summer 2026. The site will remain open during this time, with camp sites on first-come first-served basis, although the **flush toilets and RV dump station will be out of service and electrical access may be intermittent due to construction activities.**
About
Pink House Recreation Site sits at 980 feet elevation along the Clearwater River, approximately 5 miles west of Orofino, Idaho. Managed by the BLM Cottonwood Field Office, this developed campground offers 15 RV sites with full hookups (water, 30-amp electric, sewer) and 3 tent sites with river views. Two RV sites are pull-through, two are ADA accessible, and all sites include standing BBQ grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. A full-time campground host is present year-round. The Clearwater River here is renowned for world-class steelhead and salmon fishing, drawing anglers from across the country. The site features a heavily-used concrete boat ramp and a large sandy beach open for swimming and relaxation (closed to vehicles June 1 through September 30). Tubing the mellow rapids upstream of Orofino is extremely popular, with multiple put-in and take-out points along the river. Nearby attractions include Nez Perce National Historical Park at Canoe Camp (1 mile), Dworshak Hatchery (9 miles), and Dworshak Dam (12 miles). The town of Orofino provides basic services and shopping.
