About
Pink House Recreation Site is a large developed campground managed by the BLM, nestled along the Clearwater River at 980 feet elevation, approximately 5 miles west of Orofino, Idaho. The site sits within the scenic Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail corridor, surrounded by semi-arid hillsides and offering stunning river views. The campground features 15 RV sites with full hookups (water, electricity, and sewer) and 3 tent sites, all equipped with standing BBQ grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most RV sites and all tent sites provide excellent views of the Clearwater River. The Clearwater River is renowned for its world-class salmon and steelhead fisheries, attracting anglers from around the globe. The site includes one of the most heavily used boat launches upstream from Lewiston, providing year-round river access. Tubing is extremely popular on the mellow rapids upstream of Orofino, with over 10 access points along the river for put-in and take-out. The site features a large sandy beach accessible from campsites, though vehicle access to the beach is restricted June 1 through September 30 for safety. Amenities include both flush and vault toilets, multiple water hydrants providing potable water throughout the site, dumpsters, and two accessible day-use pavilions available for reservation. Native trees provide abundant shade, and wildlife viewing opportunities include river otters and eagles. A full-time campground host is present year-round. Nearby attractions include Nez Perce National Historical Park at Canoe Camp (1 mile), Dworshak Hatchery (9 miles), and basic services in Orofino (5 miles).
