About

Winchester Lake State Park is a 418-acre forested retreat at 3,900 feet elevation on the southern edge of Winchester in Lewis County, Idaho. The park surrounds 104-acre Winchester Lake at the base of the Craig Mountains and offers something for every season. During warmer months, visitors enjoy fishing for rainbow trout, perch, bass, bluegill, and the elusive Tiger Muskie, along with mountain biking on scenic trails, canoeing, and camping among beautiful Ponderosa pines. The park features 46 serviced campsites with water and electric hookups, 22 standard sites, and 3 ADA-accessible campsites, many offering lake and Craig Mountain views. When winter arrives, the park transforms into a destination for ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Four yurts provide cozy year-round accommodations, each equipped with bunks, a futon, microwave, electric heat, outdoor fire ring, propane BBQ, and a canoe during summer. The park includes flush toilets, indoor showers, a dump station, fish cleaning station, boat launch (electric motors only), canoe and paddleboard rentals, and a visitor center with a gift shop. Winchester Lake State Park is located 38 miles south of Lewiston and 138 miles south of Spokane, making it an accessible getaway for families seeking to reconnect with nature.
