About
Elk Creek Pavilion sits in a scenic location within the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, surrounded by mature pine forest along Elk Creek in north central Idaho. The 42-foot by 80-foot covered pavilion features a large stone fireplace and serves as an ideal venue for weddings, reunions, and other group gatherings. Groups exceeding 50 people require additional parking arrangements through the Palouse Ranger District. The facility is situated alongside Elk Creek Campground, which offers 23 campsites with electric hookups, most available first-come, first-served. Six sites are reservable. Each site includes a table and campfire ring with grill. The campground provides vault toilets, drinking water, and an overflow area for additional primitive camping. Sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. The campground operates as pack-in, pack-out for trash. Recreational opportunities abound in the rugged landscape. The Elk Creek Falls Trail leads 3.5 miles to Idaho's tallest waterfall. Elk Creek and nearby Elk River Reservoir offer fishing for cutthroat and rainbow trout, chinook salmon, and steelhead. The area features extensive trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Wildlife including elk, deer, moose, bear, and cougar inhabit the surrounding forests. The town of Elk River, less than a mile away, provides gas, groceries, showers, and fishing equipment.
Directions
From Moscow, Idaho, travel northeast on State Road 8 to Elk River. Turn north onto Forest Road 382 and then east onto Forest Road 1705. The campground is about 45 minutes from Moscow.
