About

Piney Grove Picnic Area Shelters is a day-use recreation facility located on Bay Springs Lake along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Prentiss County, Mississippi. The facility features three reservable pavilions (Loblolly, Long Leaf, and Short Leaf), each equipped with picnic tables, grills, electrical outlets, and trash bins. The area is ideal for group gatherings, family picnics, and outdoor celebrations. The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama, representing one of the largest earth-moving projects in history. With 180,000 acres of public land, the Tenn-Tom Waterway provides extensive opportunities for outdoor recreation. At Piney Grove, visitors can enjoy fishing directly from the picnic area or explore the nearby attractions including Piney Grove Campground and Piney Grove Beach. The facility is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operates seasonally. Reservations for the pavilions can be made through Recreation.gov. The location is unstaffed, so visitors should plan accordingly and practice Leave No Trace principles by cleaning up and placing all trash in the provided bins.
