About

Holcut Picnic Shelter sits along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. The waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the Tombigbee River in Alabama, representing the largest earth-moving project in history and providing 180,000 acres of public land for recreation. The shelter offers a large pavilion with 8 picnic tables, 8 large grills, and electric hookups, making it suitable for group camping and gatherings. Trash bins are provided and a restroom is located nearby. The site is unstaffed but can be reserved through Recreation.gov for group use. The area commemorates the former community of Holcut, the only town acquired for construction of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Nearby attractions include the Holcut Historical Marker and the Divide Section Wildlife Management Area.
