About

Pineknot Campground is located in the San Bernardino mountains near Big Bear Lake at an elevation of 6,900 feet, nestled in a dense forest of fir, pine, and oak trees. The campground sits at the base of Snow Summit Ski Resort and offers 47 reservable sites with no first-come, first-served options. All reservations must be made through Recreation.gov. The campground's prime location provides unlimited access to popular lift-served mountain biking trails at Snow Summit, making it a favorite destination for mountain biking enthusiasts. Hikers can explore numerous trails of varying difficulty levels nearby. Big Bear Lake, located approximately five miles from the campground, offers boating, fishing, sailing, and canoeing opportunities, though the cold water temperatures make swimming less popular. While the campground can accommodate RVs, it is best suited for tent camping. The adjacent town of Big Bear Lake provides convenient access to shopping and dining options. Each campsite includes a table and fire pit, and vault toilets are available on-site.
