Pineknot Campground is a 47-site family campground located at 6,900 feet elevation in the San Bernardino National Forest, positioned at the base of Snow Summit Ski Resort near Big Bear Lake. The campground sits within a dense forest of fir, pine, and oak trees that provide ample shade throughout the day. While the campground can accommodate smaller RVs up to 25 feet, limited turnaround space makes it best suited for tent camping. The location is particularly popular among mountain bikers due to direct access to lift-served trails at Snow Summit. Hikers will find trails of varying difficulty nearby, and Big Bear Lake is approximately five miles away with a marina offering boating and fishing opportunities. The lake's cold waters are better suited for canoeing and sailing than swimming. The adjacent town of Big Bear Lake provides shopping and dining options. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground provides flush toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. A campground host is on-site and firewood is available for purchase. Due to bear activity in the area, proper food storage in bear boxes is required. There are no hookups, showers, or dump station on-site, though Serrano Campground across the lake has a dump station.

Directions

From I-10 in Redlands, take Highway 330 to Highway 18 in Running Springs. Continue east on Highway 18 at Big Bear Lake Dam, go straight at the dam and follow Highway 18. Turn onto Summit Boulevard and continue to a block wall. Turn left into the campground.
