About
Coldbrook Campground is a primitive camping area located in San Bernardino National Forest in the Big Bear Lake region. Situated at approximately 6,880 feet elevation, the campground is positioned near Cedar Lake reservoir and the hamlet of Fawnskin on the north shore of Big Bear Lake. This remote camping area provides access to the mountainous terrain of the San Bernardino Mountains. The campground is typical of dispersed or primitive camping areas in this region of the national forest, where campers should be prepared for basic amenities and self-sufficient camping. The elevation brings cooler temperatures, especially at night, and winter conditions can include significant snowfall. The area around Big Bear Lake offers numerous recreational opportunities including hiking, fishing, and exploring the surrounding national forest lands. Campers visiting this area should come prepared with all necessary supplies, as services are limited in this remote section of the forest. The proximity to Big Bear Lake provides access to additional recreation opportunities while maintaining a more secluded camping experience away from the developed campgrounds around the lake.
Directions
