About
Tanglewood Group Campground provides a secluded mountain getaway for large groups in the San Bernardino National Forest's Holcomb Valley area. Located approximately 45 miles from San Bernardino at an elevation of 7,542 feet, the campground sits within a scenic Juniper/Pinyon forest along the Gold Fever Auto Tour Trail, which highlights the area's rich gold mining history. The group site accommodates up to 40 people and 8 vehicles with amenities including 6 picnic tables, 1 double pedestal grill, 1 single pedestal grill, 1 group fire ring, and vault toilets. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash, as no water or trash services are provided on-site. Markets, restaurants, and additional services are available in nearby Big Bear and Fawnskin. Recreational opportunities abound in the surrounding area. Big Bear Lake, just a short drive away, offers boating, fishing for trout, bluegill, crappie, catfish and largemouth bass, and designated swimming areas. The campground provides access to numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, including the scenic Gold Fever Trail, as well as off-road vehicle routes and rock climbing areas. The location's remote setting and high elevation make it ideal for groups seeking a true backcountry experience while maintaining reasonable access to amenities.
