Pikes Point State Park

Open

Pikes Point is a day-use only park with no overnight camping. The park and concessions are open Memorial Day weekend through the third Sunday in October, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The CCC stone shelter is reservable May 1 through September 30.

About

Pikes Point State Park occupies a scenic point on West Lake Okoboji, one of Iowa's premier recreational lakes in the Great Lakes region of northwest Iowa. The park is best known for its exceptionally popular swimming beach, complete with a swim platform extending into the clear blue waters of the lake. Shaded picnic areas with tables are scattered throughout the park, offering views of the lake. The park's historic CCC-era stone shelter can be reserved for events and gatherings through the Iowa State Parks reservation system. A concession stand operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through the third Sunday in October, selling souvenirs, firewood, snacks, beverages, and camping supplies for those heading to nearby campgrounds. Fishing is available from the bank after hours (10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m.) with opportunities for walleye, pike, bass, perch, bluegills, crappies, and catfish. For overnight camping, visitors should look to nearby Gull Point State Park or other campgrounds in the Iowa Great Lakes area.
