* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Iowa, including the following areas, Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Ida, Lyon, O'Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury, southwest Minnesota, including the following areas, Cottonwood, Jackson, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone and Rock, and southeast South Dakota, including the following areas, Lincoln, Minnehaha and Union. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving thunderstorms may lead to rapid rainfall accumulations. Hourly rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches are possible. This rainfall may lead to flash flooding along with rapid rises on streams and creeks. - Stay up to date with the latest river observations and forecasts at: water.noaa.gov
About
Emerson Bay State Recreation Area occupies a scenic position on the southwest shore of West Okoboji Lake, one of Iowa's premier natural lakes known for its exceptional water clarity and recreational opportunities. The campground features 83 sites: 58 standard electric sites with 20/30/50 amp hookups and 24 full hookup sites with water, sewer, and 50-amp electric. Site lengths vary from 22 to 70 feet, all in back-in configuration. The facility includes a modern shower and restroom building, dump station, and paved roads throughout the well-shaded grounds. Water hydrants are available at individual sites. A reservable shelter near the beach provides gathering space with lighthouse tower views. Beyond camping, Emerson Bay offers a sand beach for swimming, boat launch ramps for lake access, playground equipment, and picnic areas. The Iowa Great Lakes area provides excellent fishing, boating, and access to nearby attractions. The campground is 100% reservable through iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com.
