About

Okamanpedan State Park is a compact 19-acre park located on the shores of Tuttle Lake in Emmet County, approximately 35 miles from the popular Okoboji and Iowa Great Lakes recreation area. The park sits at the headwaters of the Des Moines River's East Fork, offering a tranquil natural setting with significant historical and ecological value. The park features a shady lakeside picnic area with an open shelter available on a first-come, first-served basis, ideal for picnics and cookouts. Okamanpedan is particularly known for its excellent fishing opportunities, providing shoreline access to Tuttle Lake as well as river fishing on the East Fork of the Des Moines River. Anglers will find a variety of game fish including walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, white bass, and panfish. The park offers two rental shelters: the Beach House and Trappers Cabin, which can accommodate up to 40 people. These shelters are available during the walk-in season and must be reserved through the Iowa State Parks reservation system. The park is managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and provides a peaceful retreat for visitors seeking lakeside recreation and quality fishing in northern Iowa.
